sticky-yellowDescription: Built by the French in late 1890s, the prison was overrun by Vietminh in 1945 but was later recaptured and turned into an airstrip by the French during the Indochina war. After the French retreated, it was abandoned and used as a defensive position by the NVA and VC in the region. The US later demolished the site, but the ruins were still occupied by the NVA as late as 1971 when Operation Lam Son 719 took place.
