  • Bite of '83Incident: The Bite of '83 Date: 1983 Location: Fredbear's Family Diner In 1983, a fatal accident occurred during a child's birthday celebration at Fredbear's Family Diner. During the event, a young boy was lifted by several older children and forced into the mouth of the Fredbear springlock animatronic as a prank. While the animatronic was performing, its jaw closed, crushing the child's head. The victim later died from his injuries in the hospital. The tragedy resulted in the immediate closure of Fredbear's Family Diner and became one of the darkest incidents in Fazbear Entertainment's history. The event severely damaged the company's reputation and raised serious concerns about the safety of springlock technology. Approximately two years later, in 1985, following additional safety concerns and multiple springlock-related failures at company locations, Fazbear Entertainment permanently ended the use and production of springlock suits. Existing Fredbear and Spring Bonnie suits were retired from service and sealed away, marking the end of the springlock era. Victim: The Crying Child (commonly believed by fans to be the youngest Afton child; the official games never directly confirm his name).
